Cathal Brugha St 1941-2016
2016 marks the 75th Anniversary of DIT Cathal Brugha Street. Saint Mary’s College of Domestic Science, as it was originally known, was officially opened on June 16th, 1941 receiving the first students in September of that year.A programme of events is being organised to celebrate this very important occasion including an exhibition which will depict the happenings of the past seventy five years. Much of the schedule of events is focused around the 16th June 2016. We are very proud to introduce the schedule of events for that 16th of June. The begins with a Bloomsday breakfast in the college. This is followed by a Panel discussion moderated by the inimatable George Hook and culminates with an Evening of Music & words. Tours of the building will run throughout the day. June 16th 1941 is the day the College was officially opened and coincidentally is also Bloomsday. So to commemorate the 75th anniversary of us opening our doors and indeed the 75th anniversary of Joyce's death (January 13th 1941) we are having a Bloomsday Breakfast in Cathal Brugha St.
Dr. Roland McHugh the renowned author of "Annotations to Finnegans Wake" will join us for breakfast & will interpret excerpts from Finnegans Wake.
